How to Create a Paper Diamond Pattern
Instructions for Quilting a Paper Diamond Piece Pattern
-
For Fussing Cutting: Trace your diamond onto your cardstock
-
Use your ruler for your seam allowance.
-
Use paper scissors to cut around the edge and a craft knife to cut down the center.
-
Use your template to find the design you want to use on your fabric.
-
Use your pencil to make registration marks on your template so you can line it up each time.
-
Use your water soluable pen to trace your template.
-
Cut the fabric with your fabric scissors
-
After you have cut your pieces you can glue them to your paper shapes using your glue pen.
Tip: make sure your fabric has a little bit of tension but do not make it tight. -
Make sure your paper shapes line up and then put them together with the patterns facing each other.
-
Insert your thread from your seam allowance up.
-
Stitch three stitches in place right at the tip.
-
Continue to stitch along the edges with stitches between 1/8 and 1/4 of an inch apart.
Tip: Do not go through the paper. -
Add three stitches in place at the end of your seam, and ring it underneath the seam allowance and cut the thread to bury it.
-
Add a third diamond to create a half star, and create two half stars.
-
Place your two half stars right side together and stitch them together using the same method as above, starting in the middle.
-
Be sure to tuck in your dog ears at the points of your stars before you applique it down.
