Graffiti Tee

Materials:

  • Plain (or printed) tee shirt
  • Tulip Fashion Graffiti Fabric Paint Cannon
  • Tulip Fabric Spray Paint
  • Stencils

Instructions:

  1. For this project, I selected fluorescent colors of Tulip Cannon Fabric Paint. The pink and orange are super cool for the base colors of this tee.

  2. Next I selected a re-positionable stencil. This stencil is cool because it is sticky on the back and works repeatedly on fabric.

  3. Follow the package instructions and pump up your Cannon. This is so cool because you get the effects of an aerosol spray bottle without the harm to the environment.

  4. Hold down the nozzle and spray on your lettering. I chose L-O-V-E.

  5. Next I outlined the orange lettering with pink. Then, push down partially on the nozzle and you create a spattered look.

  6. I like to let the base colors dry completely so that I can get crisp black graffiti. Position the stencil on the tee.

  7. I’m using the Tulip Fabric Spray Paint in Asphalt for my black graffiti.

  8. Just pump to spray the paint over the stencil. For graffiti, it’s fine to let the color go outside the stencil.

  9. Here’s what it look like when you pull up the stencil. If you want a darker application of the black fabric spray, just spray more color while the stencil is in place.

  10. Reposition and re-spray.

  11. Next, I grabbed my floral stencil and just placed it over the fabric (no adhesive on the back of this stencil).

  12. Move it around and spray, spray, spray with the black, orange and pink.

  13. For the final design element, I added a bird.

  14. Here is my graffiti design! Repeat for the back and sleeves.

  15. Turn your tee into a designer piece by cutting off the crew neck. Also cut the bottom edge of the sleeves and bottom hem. When you wash your tee, the edges will curl!

Oh please, please keep these cool and original ideas for white tee shirts coming! I love these. The Tulip cannon paint technique/kit seems like the coolest thing since sliced bread. I am new to paint and stencils for clothing items, so if I seem overly excited that would explain it. I'd like to make a shirt exactly as shown. The orange and the pink are so very trendy.
