Materials:
- Small square wooden box frame
- Selection of small sea shells; sea stars and small piece of coral
- Five free form flat-sided bronze large hole freshwater pearl beads
- Acrylic paint in the following two colors: powder blue and pale gold
- Brown pigment ink
- Silver and gold glitter glue
- Water-based gloss varnish
- Paintbrush
- Mineral turpentine and a small piece of soft rag
- Standard scissors
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
- Super glue
- Window cleaner (such as Windowlene)
Instructions:
- Remove the glass panel before starting with the project. Paint the frame and box with an uneven layer of powder blue paint and allow to dry thoroughly.
- Cut a small piece from the rag. Add turpentine to this piece of rag, roll it into a soft ball and gently wipe over the paint, removing the paint in some areas.
- Apply pigment ink on another piece from the rag and apply unevenly over the frame and bottom part of the box. Use the piece of rag with turpentine again to soften the effect of the ink. Allow to dry thoroughly.
- Add an uneven layer of pale gold only to the frame, not to the box, and allow to dry thoroughly.
- Add mock sand to the bottom of the box. Apply an even layer of glitter glue to the bottom of the box, mixing the silver and gold glue. Allow to dry overnight.
- Hot glue the piece of coral, shells and pearls in place.
- Clean the glass panel with window cleaner.
- Use super glue to secure the glass panel to the frame.
- Use super glue to secure the frame to the box.

What a beautiful craft! I have a lot of shells I have picked up on vacations that are just sitting in bags. Also, I love anything with glitter. I can't wait to make this. I have a beach themed bathroom decor that will be brightened up with this picture. Thanks for the lovely idea.

I love that glitter portrayed as sand! So sparkly and so pretty! Yes, there are several steps to complete this DIY craft, but they are easy to do. It is not a craft that can be completed in one sitting as you will need to let the glitter "Sand" dry overnight before adding your shells and pearls and starfish.
