I have not tried this yet, but after reading the written pattern and seeing all the pictures I know I can to this Catherine Wheel Stitch. I'm thinking of a nice headband/ear warmer and a long scarf. This is a beautiful stitch! I like making circles, lol, and the holes aren't too big in the design. I wonder if it's lost popularity, because I haven't seen anyone use it in my FB crochet group. I love Lion Heartland yarn. I've used it to make Golden Retriever dog dolls. It's soft and has earthy colors.
