Materials:

  • 1 skein Red Heart Super Saver yarn in Light Blue
  • 1 skein Red Heart Super Saver yarn in Baby Pink
  • 3 skeins Red Heart Super Saver yarn in Baby Print
  • 1 skein Red Heart Classic yarn in Maize
  • 5.0 mm (US H-8) crochet hook or size needed for gauge

 

Gauge:  4 rows – 2 ¼"; dc dec, sc – 1 ¾”

 

Special Stitch: 

  • Double Crochet Decrease (dc dec) – (yo, insert hook, yo, draw loop through, yo, draw through 2 loops on hook) in each of the stitches indicated, yo, draw through all loops on hook.

Instructions:
Blanket is crocheted in multiples of 8 plus 11.
Blanket Measures:   38” x 41”

  1. Row 1 (RS): With light blue ch 147, 2 dcs in 3rd ch from hook, skip next 3 chs, sc in next ch, [skip 3 chs, 5 dcs in next ch, skip 3 chs, sc in next ch] across to last 4 chs, skip 3 chs, 3 dcs in last ch, fasten off and turn.
     
  2. Row 2: Join baby print in first stitch, ch 1, sc in same stitch, ch 3, dc dec in next 5 stitches, ch 3, [sc in next dc, ch 3, dc dec in next 5 stitches, ch 3] across ending with sc in last stitch, turn.
     
  3. Row 3: Ch 3, 2 dcs in same stitch as beginning ch 3, sc in next dc dec, [5 dcs in next sc, sc in next dc dec] across to last sc, 3 dcs in last sc, fasten off and turn.
     
  4. Row 4: Join maize in first stitch, ch 1, sc in same stitch, ch 3, dc dec in next 5 stitches, [ch 3, sc in next dc, ch 3, dc dec in next 5 stitches] across, ending ch 3, sc in last stitch, turn.
     
  5. Row 5: Ch 3, 2 dcs in same stitch as beginning ch 3, sc in next dc dec, [5 dcs in next sc, sc in next dc dec] across ending 3 dcs in last stitch, fasten off and turn.
     
  6. Row 6: Join baby print in first stitch and continue with Row 4.
     
  7. Row 7: Repeat Row 5, fasten off and turn.
     
  8. Row 8: Join baby pink in first stitch and continue with Row 4.
     
  9. Row 9: Repeat Row 5, fasten off and turn.
     
  10. Row 10: Join baby print in first stitch and continue with Row 4.
     
  11. Row 11: Repeat Row 5, fasten off and turn.

Color Scheme:  Continue pattern repeating Rows 4 and 5 for a total of 61 rows as follows:  (2 rows light blue, 2 rows baby print, 2 rows maize, 2 rows baby print, 2 rows baby pink, 2 rows baby print) 4 more times, 2 rows light blue

Edging

  1. With baby print work along top edge [dc, (ch 1, dc) 4 times] in first right corner dc, sc in next dc, *[dc, (ch 1, dc) 4 times] in next sc, sc in 3rd dc of 5 dcs, repeat from * across ending skip 1 dc of 3 dcs, sc in next dc, [dc, (ch 1, dc) 4 times] in last corner dc.
     
  2. Work along side edge *sc in space between 2 rows, ch 1, [dc, (ch 1, dc) 4 times] in space between next 2 rows, ch 1, repeat from * across, [dc, (ch 1, dc) 4 times] in first bottom corner ch.
     
  3. Work along bottom edge * sc in next ch 3 space, [dc, (ch 1, dc) 4 times] in next ch 3 space, repeat from * across ending [dc, (ch 1, dc) 4 times] in last corner ch.
     
  4. Work along bottom edge as for side edge, join to beginning dc and fasten off.
