    If you love to crochet and want to make homemade placemats, then you'll love this cool project! This is a great pattern for beginners and can be made to fit anyone's home decor. Choose your yarn color to match your personality.

    Crocheted Placemats
     

    Materials:

    • Lion Brand Cotton (100% pure cotton worsted weight, 4 oz), or equivalent 5 skeins—main color; 2 skeins—contrasting color
    • Size F hook

    Stitched Used:

    • Ch = chain stitch
    • SS = slip stitch
    • DC = double crochet
    • SC = single crochet
    • RS = right side
    • JN = join

    Notes:

    1. Finished size: 10”, 12” or desired size
       
    2. Ch 4 counts as 1dc in each round. Increase 12 dc in each round. MC = main color; CC = contrasting color; DO NOT turn design at end of rounds; pattern is worked from the right side

    Instructions:

    1. Round 1: Ch 4, join with a ss to 4th ch from hook; ch 4; 11 dc in ring; jn with a ss to 3rd ch st: 12 dc
       
    2. Round 2: Inc 1 dc in each dc to end; join with a ss to 3rd ch st: 24 dc
       
    3. Round 3: Ch 4, 1 dc in joining; *1 dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc, rep from * to end; jn with a ss to 3rd ch st: 36 dc
       
    4. Round 4: Ch 4, 1 dc in joining; *1 dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc, rep from * to last 3 dc, 1 dc in remaining 3 dc; jn with a ss to 3rd ch st: 48 dc
       
    5. Round 5: Ch 4, 1 dc in joining, *1 dc in next 3 dc, 2 dc in next dc, rep from * to last 3 dc, 1 dc in remaining 3 dc; jn with a ss to 3rd ch st: 60 dc
       
    6. Round 6: Ch 4, 1 dc in joining, *1 dc in next 4 dc, 2 dc in next dc, rep from * to last 4 dc, 1 dc in remaining 4 dc; jn with a ss to 3rd ch st—72 dc
       
    7. Round 7: Ch 4, 1 dc in joining, *1 dc in next 5 dc, 2 dc in next dc, rep from * to last 5 dc, 1 dc in remaining 5 dc; jn with a ss to 3rd ch st: 84 dc
       
    8. Round 8: Ch 4, 1 dc in joining, *1 dc in next 6 dc, 2 dc in next dc, rep from * to last 6 dc, 1 dc in the remaining 6 dc, jn with a ss to 3rd ch st: 96 dc
       
    9. Round 9: Ch 4, 1 dc in joining, *1 dc in next 7 dc, 2 dc in next dc, rep from * to last 7 dc, 1 dc in the remaining 7 dc, jn with a ss to 3rd ch st: 108 dc
       
    10. Round 10: Ch 4, 1 dc in joining, *1 dc in next 8 dc, 2 dc in next dc, rep from * to last 8 dc, 1 dc in the remaining 8 dc, jn w/ss to 3rd ch st—120 dc
       
    11. Round 11: Ch 4, 1 dc in joining, *1 dc in next 9 dc, 2 dc in next dc, rep from * to last 9 dc,1 dc in the remaining 9 dc, jn w/ss to 3rd ch st: 132 dc
       
    12. End off

    Finishing:

    1. Round 1: With RS facing, jn cc with ss to last dc, sc in joining and 1st dc *2 sc in next dc, 1 sc in next dc, rep from * to end, join with a  ss.
       
    2. Round 2: 1 ss in back loop of each sc st to end.
       
    3. End off
