Daisy Dish Cloth
Crochet a fancy dish cloth with a three-dimensional daisy blooming from the center. This dish cloth crochet pattern from Lily Sugar n' Cream brings a lovely accent to any kitchen. Materials:
- Yarn: Lily® Sugar ’n Cream (Solids: 70.9 g/2.5 oz/109 m/120 yds), (Ombres: 56.7g/2 oz/86 m/95 yds)
Main Color (MC) (00073 Sunshine) 1 ball
Contrast A (00001 White) 1 ball
Contrast B (01712 Hot Green) 1 ball
- Crochet Hook: Size 5 mm (U.S. H or 8) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge.
Size: Approx 12½ ins [32 cm] square.
Gauge: 13 sc and 14 rows = 4 ins [10 cm].
Instructions:
With MC, ch 2.
1st rnd: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join with sl st to first sc.
2nd rnd: Ch 1. 2 sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc. 12 sc.
3rd rnd: Ch 1. *1 sc in next sc. 2 sc in next sc. Rep from * around. Join B with sl st to first sc. 18 sc.
4th rnd: With B, ch 1. *1 sc in each of next 2 sc. 2 sc in next sc. Rep from * around. Join MC with sl st to first sc. 24 sc. Break B.
5th rnd: With MC, ch 1. Working in back loop only of each sc, 1 sc in same sc as last sl st. 1 sc in next sc. *1 hdc in next sc. 3 dc in next sc. Ch 1. 3 dc in next sc. 1 hdc in next sc. 1 sc in each of next 2 sc. Rep from * 3 times more, omitting 1 sc in each of last 2 sc at end of last rep. Join with sl st to first sc.
6th rnd: Ch 3 (counts as dc). 1 dc in each of next 5 sts. *(2 dc. Ch 2. 2 dc) in next corner ch-1 sp. 1 dc in each of next 10 sts. Rep from * around, ending last rep with 1 dc in each of last 4 sts. Join with sl st to top of ch 3.
7th rnd: Ch 3 (counts as dc). 1 dc in each of next 3 dc. *(Ch 1. Miss next dc. 1 dc in next dc) twice. Ch 1. (1 dc. Ch 2. 1 dc) in next corner ch-2 sp. Ch 1. (1 dc in next dc. Ch 1. Miss next dc) twice. 1 dc in each of next 6 dc. Rep from * around, ending last rep with 1 dc in each of last 2 dc. Join with sl st to top of ch 3.
8th rnd: Ch 3 (counts as dc). 1 dc in each of next 3 dc. *(Ch 1. 1 dc in next dc) 3 times. Ch 1. (1 dc. Ch 2. 1 dc) in next corner ch-2 sp. (Ch 1. 1 dc in next dc) 3 times. Ch 1. 1 dc in each of next 6 dc.
Rep from * around, ending last rep with 1 dc in each of last 2 dc. Join with sl st to top of ch 3.
9th rnd: Ch 3 (counts as dc). 1 dc in each of next 3 dc. *(Ch 1. 1 dc in next dc) 4 times. Ch 1. (1 dc. Ch 2. 1 dc) in next corner ch-2 sp. (Ch 1. 1 dc in next dc) 4 times. Ch 1. 1 dc in each of next 6 dc.
Rep from * around, ending last rep with 1 dc in each of last 2 dc. Join with sl st to top of ch 3.
10th to 12th rnds: Cont in same manner, working 1 more rep of (Ch 1. 1 dc in next dc) before and after each corner ch-2 sp. Fasten off.
Note: 7 petals from 2nd rnd will alternate with 7 petals from 3rd rnd.
Petals: 1st rnd: With RS facing, join A with sl st in any rem loop of 4th rnd. Ch 1. 1 sc in same sp. 1 sc in each of next 4 loops. *2 sc in next loop. 1 sc in each of next 5 loops. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to first sc. 28 sc.
2nd rnd: *Ch 10. 1 hdc in 3rd ch from hook. 1 dc in each of next 4 ch. 1 tr in each of next 3 ch. Miss next 3 sc. Sl st in next sc. Rep from * around, ending with sl st in first sc. 7 petals.
3rd rnd: Working behind last rnd, sl st in each of next 2 sc. *Ch 10. 1 hdc in 3rd ch from hook. 1 dc in each of next 4 ch. 1 tr in each of next 3 ch. Miss next 3 sc of 1st rnd. Sl st in next sc. Rep from * around, ending with sl st in first sc. 7 petals. Fasten off.
FINISHING
Sew petals in position as shown.

While I love the beauty of this pattern, to me it was inpractical because of the square design in which the daisy is centered on. I found that stitch to be too light for the weight of the flower. The pattern calls for a H hook, I used a G. I do like the pattern, probably will make a few of my own adjustments... Thanks ; )

The "Cheerful Dishcloth" is just that cheerful! Wish I had learned to crochet--I just knit. Can this pattern be converted to a knit pattern? Thanks!
