Materials:

- Size 8 knitting needles (or size to give you correct gauge)
Gauge:
- 8 sts and 12 rows = 2 inches in Basketweave pattern
Click here for a free printable PDF of this pattern.
Steps:
- Cast on 92 sts. Knit 8 rows.
Begin eyelet section:
- Row 1: K4, *YO, K2tog, repeat from * across, to last 4 sts. YO, K4.
- Row 2: K4, P across to last 4 sts, k4.
- Row 3: K4, YO, ssk, K across to last 7 sts. K3tog, YO, K4.
Begin Basket-Weave Pattern (12 rows)
- Row 1 (Wrong side): K4, P2, *K4, P4, repeat from * across to last 6 sts, P2, K4.
- Row 2: (Right side): K4, YO, ssk, *K4, P4, repeat from * across to last 6 sts, K2tog, YO, K4.
- Rows 3 & 5: Repeat Row 1.
- Rows 4 & 6: Repeat Row 2.
- Row 7: K4, P2, *P4, K4, repeat from * across to last 6 sts, P2, K4.
- Row 8: K4, YO, SSK, *P4, K4, repeat from * across to last 6 sts, K2tog, YO, K4.
- Rows 9 & 11: Repeat row 7.
- Rows 10 & 12: Repeat row 8.
- Repeat rows 1-12 until blanket measures approx. 35 inches, ending with row 12 (right side).
Ending eyelet section:
- Row 1: K4, P across to last 4 sts, k4.
- Row 2: K4, YO, ssk, *YO, K2tog, repeat from * across to last 7 sts. K2tog, YO, K4.
- Row 3: K4, P across to last 4 sts, K4. Knit next 8 rows, bind off. Tuck in any loose ends, block if desired.
To make a bigger blanket, increase by multiples of 8 (knit 4, purl 4).
SSK should be done this way: Slip two stitches knitwise onto right needle. Insert left needle into the back of these stitches and complete stitch. This causes the decrease to point to the left.

Designer's Note You are supposed to have 93 stitches. That is what the K3tog is for. Also, for a downloadable PDF of this pattern, you can go to www.forgive490.com/EasyBasketweaveBabyBlanket.php

i have had a similar problem. SSK directions are written wrong and the row three of begin eyelet, I believe should be KINT 2 together, not K3. After this row, I am less one stitch and ssk should have left needle go into front of stitch not the back. SOOOOOOO frustrating when the pattern is wrong...

Just started this blanket and only on row 1 of eyelet section. I now have 93 stitches instead of 92 (just like sisaac1044). It makes sense that we'd end up with 93 stitches with the last YO. How can I fix this problem? I didn't see anything on Favecrafts facebook page. Any help would be appreciated. I need to know if I should find another pattern for my grandson due in March :)

@sisaac1044 0328392, I'm sorry to hear of your trouble. I have two options for you: 1. You can contact the pattern designer directly for help. The designer is specified in the byline. 2. Try posting your question to our sites Facebook page. It is monitored by the editor and is a great resource for helpful tips and suggestions from our Facebook friends; perhaps they can offer some guidance! I am having trouble with this pattern. Hope someone can clear this up for me. I cast on 92 stitches. On the first row of the eyelet section we K4..then YO, K2tog and continue until the last 4 stitches..then YO and then K last 4 stitches. I have done this OVER and OVER and every time I do this I come up with 93 stitches. HELP!!! I should only have 92!!! I was also having trouble with the ssk until I read another comment on the correct way and also checked out knithelp.com. Great website. Anyway, someone please help on the problem I am having!! Thanks

This pattern is good except the SSK which is written incorrectly. Most knitting books and knit help.com demonstrate this stitch with the left needle placed in front of the slipped stitches and then completed. The way this pattern has been written, the stitch cannot be completed since the SSK is preceeded by a YO.

I am having trouble understanding the pattern. On Row 1 of Basket-Weave Pattern it says K 4 P2, *K4, P4 ECT. Then in Row 2

Very cute blanket! It's fun to knit and the border gives it an extra nice touch! I'm making a blue one, the next one will be pink!
