Christmas Snowman Stocking

Materials:

  • 1 ball Bernat Super Value Yarn (197g/7oz/426 yards) in Sky
  • 1 ball Bernat Super Value Yarn (197g/7oz/426 yards) in Faded Denim
  • 1 ball Bernat Super Value Yarn (197g/7oz/426 yards) in Denim Heather
  • 1 ball Bernat Super Value Yarn (197g/7oz/426 yards) in Berry
  • 1 ball Bernat Super Value Yarn (197g/7oz/426 yards) in Bright Yellow
  • 1 ball Bernat Super Value Yarn (197g/7oz/426 yards) in Black
  • 1 ball Bernat Super Value Yarn (197g/7oz/426 yards) in Winter White
  • 1 ball Bernat Super Value Yarn (197g/7oz/426 yards) in Carrot
  • 4.5 mm (US 7) knitting needles
  • 5 mm (US 8) knitting needles
  • Front Pattern
  • Back Pattern

 

Gauge: 18 sts and 24 rows = 4 ins [10 cm] with larger needles in stocking st.

Note: When working from chart, wind small balls of the colors to be used, one for each separate area of color in the design. Start new colors at appropriate points. To change colors, twist the two colors around each other where they meet, on wrong side, to avoid a hole.



Instructions:
Finished Size: Approx 15 ins [38 cm] long x 10 ins [25.5 cm] wide.

Front of Stocking

  1. Beg at bottom of Stocking, with larger needles and B, cast on 17 sts, with A, cast on 15 sts. 32 sts.
     
  2. **Work Chart to end of chart, reading knit rows from right to left, purl rows from left to right and noting side incs and decs.
     
  3. Change to smaller needles, C and knit 2 rows.
     
  4. With B, knit 2 rows.
     
  5. With A, knit 2 rows.
     
  6. With G, knit 2 rows.
     
  7. With A, knit 2 rows.
     
  8. With B, knit 2 rows.
     
  9. With C, knit 1 row. Cast off knitwise (WS).**

 

Back of Stocking

  1. With larger needles and A, cast on 15 sts, with B, cast on 17 sts. 32 sts.
     
  2. Work from ** to ** as given for Front.

 

Finishing:

  1. Sew Back and Front tog.
     
  2. Loop: With C, cast on 20 sts. Cast off.
     
  3. Sew loop in position.
     
  4. Duplicate st small parts of the design.

what size needles are used for this project

What is the smaller needle size?????

I think this is great.i am looking for a Santa Clause knitting pattern for a sweater.i don't need the sweater pattern just a graft Santa.Thnks

The directions call for large needles and small needles ... the materials only list size 7 needles. What other size is used for this pattern? Thanks!
