Creative Yarn Source Crochet Style has Omega nylong yarns of different thicknesses and also tons of colors to choose from I've used this yarn for many many purses and have always been very pleased with the results She has charts too so you can determine exactly which thickness is what you need I agree that this is a somewhat difficult pattern to decipher - especially for a beginner My suggestion is to use whatever liner you like and tack it to the top edge of the purse with thread Sew it well and you'll be fine Also for the base - plastic canvas extra sturdy or regular will work well If your hubby works with wood have him cut one create a template for him by tracing the bottom onto paper out of thin wood of any kind Another option is to use thick cardboard although this isn't the best choice…Read More I've found Unless you truly want it STURDY using a couple strands of yarn held together as one would work well too It will create a very sturdy base I've made lots of purses and I hope these suggestions will help some of you who are having troubles It's always frustrating when a pattern doesn't work as you planned Keep trying Once you succeed you'll be proud of yourself and you'll also learn alot

I use the plastic template sheets (used for quilting) for the bottom of my purses, use more than one for a stiffer bottom if desired.

What is a drawstring liner? Where do you purchase it, or where are the instructions for making one?

Yes I'm having trouble with the base board bottom as well. Also drawstring liner. Any suggestions on what exactly I should get? I tried to look at the Craft Store on this site as well and still not sure what to use. This is my first attempt to make a purse!

it is my guess after reading the pattern it ment for row 5 and 6 to repeat row 4 since its a decrease row.. I hope this helps.. its really a very cut purse... also I think they want any type of board to be put down to creat a base for the purse.. maybe theres a language barrier or some other reason for the mis comunication... I personally think a pattern labeled easy should be more detailed with the instructions..

On the pattern of the little red crochet bag why does it say repeat row 5 when it comes to 5 & 6?I know that you repeat a row from a different row. Do I crochet from a different row or what?

What does baseboard bottom mean? What is it made of? This is not for someone who doesn't know how to sew or is very inexperienced in making purses.
