Striped Chair Pad
Create a set of daisy-inspired chair pads in coordinating stripes of blue, yellow and white. You can adapt the colors of these crochet chair pads to your decorating scheme. These daisy cushions from Lily Sugar n' Cream coordinate with the Daisy Apron, Daisy Dish Cloth and the fun Soap Apron.
Materials (for 2 chair cushions):
- Yarn: Lily Sugar’n Cream (70.9 g/2.5 oz)
Main Color (MC): (Blue) 9 balls
Contrast A: (Yellow) 2 balls
Contrast B: (White) 2 balls
Contrast C: (Green) 1 ball
- Crochet hook: Size 4 mm (U.S. G or 6) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
- 2 foam cushion forms (approx 16 ins [40.5 cm] square)
Size: To fit 16 in [40.5 cm] square foam cushion.
Gauge: 14 sc and 15 rows = 4 ins [10 cm].
Instructions:
Note: To change color, work to last 2 loops on hook. Draw loop of next color through 2 loops on hook to complete st and proceed.
Top and Bottom (make alike)
Stripe Pat
Work 6 rows with MC.
Work 5 rows with A.
Work 5 rows with MC.
Work 5 rows with B.
Work 5 rows with MC.
Work 5 rows with C.
Work 5 rows with MC.
Work 5 rows with B.
Work 5 rows with MC.
Work 5 rows with A.
Work 6 rows with MC.
These 57 rows form Stripe Pat.
With MC, ch 61.
1st row: (RS). 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in next ch. *Ch 1. Miss next ch. 1 sc in next ch. Rep from * to end of ch. Ch 1. Turn. 60 sts.
2nd row: 1 sc in first sc. *1 sc in next ch-1 sp. Ch 1. Miss next sc. Rep from * to last sc. 1 sc in last sc. Ch 1. Turn. 2 rows of Stripe Pat are complete.
Keeping cont of Stripe Pat, rep last row until 57 rows of Stripe Pat are complete.
Do not break MC.
**Next row: (RS). Ch 1. Working along one side of piece, 1 sc in side of first row. *Ch 1. Miss next row. 1 sc in side of next row. Rep from * down side. Ch 1. Turn. 58 sts.
Next row: Ch 1. 1 sc in first sc. *1 sc in next ch-1 sp. Ch 1. Miss next sc. Rep from * to last sc. 1 sc in last sc. Fasten off.**
With RS of work facing, join MC with sl st to corner of opposite side. Rep from ** to ** as given for first side.
Block to 16 ins [40.5 cm] square.
Gusset: With MC, ch 9.
1st row: (RS). 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each ch to end of ch. Ch 1. Turn. 8 sc.
2nd row: 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Ch 1. Turn.
Rep last row until Gusset measures length to fit around outer edge of Cushion. Sew ends of Gusset. Pin Top and Gusset tog with WS facing to each other, having Gusset seam at back of Cushion. Crochet Top and Gusset tog. Insert Cushion foam. Crochet Bottom and Gusset tog.
Ties: (make 2). With MC, ch 51. Turn chain sideways. Sl st in center ‘bump’ at back of 2nd ch from hook. Sl st in next bump and each bump to end of ch. Fasten off. Fold tie in half and sew center of Tie to back corners of Cushion as shown on picture.
Daisy Motif: Make 2 Daisy Motifs.
With Yellow, ch 5. Join in rnd.
1st rnd: Ch 1. 10 sc in rnd. Join White with sl st to first sc.
2nd rnd: With White, ch 1. 1 sc in first sc. *Ch 7. Sl st in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in next ch. 1 hdc in next ch. 1 dc in each of next 3 ch. Miss next sc. 1 sc in next sc. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to first sc. 5 petals.
3rd rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in missed sc in last rnd. *Ch 7. Sl st in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in next ch. 1 hdc in next ch. 1 dc in each of next 3 ch. 1 sc in next missed sc in last rnd. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to first sc. 5 petals.
Note: 5 petals from 2nd rnd should alternate with 5 petals from 3rd rnd. Fasten off.
Loop: With MC, ch 6. Fasten off. Attach chain across back of Daisy Motif to form a loop. Slip tie through loop on back of Daisy Motif and position Daisy Motif as shown in picture.

These chair pads are awesome! I have hard wooden chairs, so I think these pads would be a great way to make them more comfortable. The colors really do not go with what I like, so I think I will change them to something I like better. I love that there are so many patterns here that go together. They will make a great gift, for a housewarming or wedding.
